He’s one of the most mobile ADCs out there. And two guns are always better than one if you ask me. But since he’s been out for pushing a decade at this point, maybe it’s time to look for a skin that’ll truly make Lucian pop. So let’s have a look at all of Lucian’s skins (Prestige editions not included) and rank them all to see which ones are most worth your buck.
9. Heartseeker Lucian
Released: February 2nd, 2017 Price: 1350 RP The Heartseeker skinline has always been a hit or miss type of deal for me. While Heartseeker Varus pierced that lovable arrow straight into my heart and drained my wallet ever so efficiently, Heartseeker Lucian just got a “meh” from me. The skin is not bad by any means. But it just doesn’t really stack up against the rest of the line-up. Sure, the base model change has you looking dapper as hell. And the fact that your guns have heart-shaped muzzles is pretty cute. But I don’t pick Lucian to look cute. As you’ll see further along in the list, I prefer the badass approach. Plus, this skin is on the heftier side price-wise. So I wouldn’t even get it as a joke when I know how many other good 1350 RP Lucian skins are out there waiting for me.
8. Striker Lucian
Released: June 18th, 2014 Price: 750 RP At least this skin is fairly priced, which is why it got the leg up over Heartseeker. However, it is just a simple character model redesign. So I guess you get what you pay for. The base model itself looks fine. But it’s nothing to write home about. If you’re really into soccer and you’re also a Lucian main, then maybe this is the perfect skin for you. But that’s about the only real demographic Striker Lucian can hope for. The character model is very plain, with no real stand-out features, and the fact that a soccer player is carrying guns around just confuses me on multiple levels.
7. Pulsefire Lucian
Released: May 14th, 2020 Price: 1350 RP Okay, this is where we get into some controversial territory. Although Pulsefire Lucian is a pretty good skin in its own regard – I simply think that a different skin handles the futuristic theme a bit better, while having the same price tag. Pulsefire Lucian is very smooth. And all of the new animations are crisp as hell, with the Q being especially well-designed. But I can’t say I was all that blown away. Sure, you can opt for the Prestige edition and feel a bit more special. But I would still rather opt for a different skin line. This one just makes me feel like I’m playing Tracer from a parallel universe and someone has already picked her, so I’ll pass.
6. Victorious Lucian
Released: November 11th, 2020 Price: Ranked Reward As far as Victorious skins are concerned, I will say that Victorious Lucian is pretty epic. It’s nothing too flashy or out of left field, but it simply fits the champion perfectly. The armor set just looks amazing, and it makes Lucian feel a bit more like a true warrior without ever impeding on that swift gunslinger vibe he has going for him. The redesign for his face also makes him look a bit more battle-hardened than usual, which is a big plus in my book. All of the animations are visible and clean – and even the auto-attack animation is very well synched. No real complaints about this one. But since you can only attain it as a ranked reward, and it isn’t thematically all that distinct, I have to place it a bit lower on the list.
5. Hired Gun Lucian
Released: August 21st, 2013 Price: 975 RP If you played Lucian starting from his release, this skin probably has a special place in your heart. Although this doesn’t do anything too extravagant or crazy, it just works as a Lucian skin. Hired Gun Lucian is a very Matrix-styled skin that has Lucian throw on some cool shades, bleach his hair, and get some more dangerous-looking guns. The skin also comes with some new animations, with recolored ability animations, and a completely unique backing animation where Lucian ponders between the health pot and the mana pot. Again, it’s nothing too crazy. But considering the legacy it has, its price, and the fact that this is the only way to see a mana potion in-game, I would say it’s worth looking into.
4. Demacia Vice Lucian
Released: July 18th, 2019 Price: 1350 RP Although it doesn’t come with the T-pose bugs we’ve all come to know and hate, this skin just has such a strong Cyberpunk vibe. This is like 50% punk technology and 50% pure swag. It comes with rocking shades, a haircut that would make JoJo characters weep, and a color palette that can only be described as “funky”. There are also some new ability animations, with the E being the stand-out for me personally, as the little arrows just make me feel like I’m going a bit faster than usual. Plus this skin has the best backing animation I have ever seen. Don’t trust me? Go to YouTube and see the glory for yourself. The only real downside to this skin is that it is a bit more silly than it is epic. Which might not be everyone’s cup of GFuel.
3. PROJECT: Lucian
Released: September 7th, 2015 Price: 1350 RP Now this is my Lucian skin of choice when I want to look futuristic. Although it completely loses to Pulsefire in the field of backing animations, I think it wins in every other category. The fact that Lucian is wearing a mask just makes me feel slightly more mysterious and badass. And the rest of his getup only further illustrates that feeling. The animations also feel a bit more robotic and hi-tech, as is typical of the PROJECT skin line. In other words, PROJECT: Lucian makes me feel like I’m playing Warframe without the need to actually play Warframe. And that’s one ultimate victory that any gamer could ever hope for in life.
2. Arcana Lucian
Released: May 13th, 2021 Price: 1350 RP I honestly don’t even know what this skin line is aiming for. But I don’t care, because it looks awesome. I feel like I’m both going to hunt vampires, and like I’m a vampire myself at the same time. The base character model is just completely pimped out, getting some of that royal aesthetic without toning down the gunslinger badass aesthetic in the slightest. It’s also the newest Lucian skin on the market (as of this writing) so the animations are just as crisp as you’d imagine. The R animation in particular looks really cool, and the backing animation just puts the base skin to shame. All in all, I have no idea why I like this skin so much, but I do.
1. High Noon Lucian
Released: August 30th, 2018 Price: 1820 RP I usually don’t like giving the number one spot to the most expensive skin in a champion’s catalogue because it feels like cheating. However, this skin is so good that not putting it at number one would feel like even bigger cheating. A gunslinging champion and the High Noon skin line was a combo made in heaven. And High Noon Lucian really showcases that front & center. There are so many little details that make this skin pop. Like the fact that you spin your guns around after you auto-attack, or the fact that you fall into a cartoonish grave when you’re killed. And then there’s the obvious draw of a cowboy badass with a gun at his side, busting into the tavern known as Summoner’s Rift and demanding some respect. I honestly don’t have a single complaint about the skin. So if you’re a Lucian main, time to learn about credit card debt and hop on the High Noon Lucian hype train.
