He’s just some jolly muscular guy who carries a shield around and wants to protect stuff. The concept is simple, and yet really fun. Plus it allows for some hilarious skin designs. But which of his skins stand out from the crowd? Let’s find out as we rank all of Braum’s best skins based on price, features, and aesthetic/appeal.
7. Braum Lionheart
Released: December 7th, 2015 Price: 750 RP Although I’m placing this skin dead last, I can’t really say that I hate it. Sure, it’s the simplest Braum skin on the market. But it’s also the cheapest, so that only seems fair. The character model for Braum here has a pretty decent RPG vibe, with the stylized armor and the most magnificent of moustache. His shield also explains the name a little bit – since a giant lion head takes up the majority of the front end. The lion also gives off some Aladdin vibes, but that might just be me. This skin doesn’t offer any new animations or particles either. So having ice come out of this normal-looking dude is a bit weird. But the lion head also has an ice shard in its mouth, so I guess it’s somewhat justified. Overall, this character model is pretty nice – but the base animations don’t fit that well here. And the skin is missing a bit of that “wow” factor.
6. El Tigre Braum
Released: January 21st, 2015 Price: 1350 RP The community seems to have a very passionate love-hate relationship with El Tigre Braum. And I can kind of understand why. On the one hand, the theme makes perfect sense, and is honestly a hilarious idea. On the other hand, the execution is a bit sloppy. His chair looks very flimsy and takes away that rock solid stature that Braum always has. And since he doesn’t even properly whack someone overhead with it, it feels like a waste. The Q animations also just doesn’t make much sense here – basically a small chair flies out of the big chair once he punches it. Eh. And the ult sorta feels like a reskin with added sound effects. There’s no denying that this skin is fun. And if you just turn your brain off and start doing your best Hulk Hogan impressions, you’re in for a great time. But I can’t really say that this is the best skin Braum has going for him.
5. Pool Party Braum
Released: June 9th, 2021 Price: 1350 RP If you’re looking for the best fan service skin, look no further. Pool Party Braum gets you front row seats to the gun show! In all seriousness, this skin is actually very solid in my eyes. Having Braum wield a tiki stand is a pretty funny idea. And since the model is similar to his normal shield, he still feels like himself. When it comes to animations, they’re okay for the most part. The Q launching a Poro is a bit random but nothing too serious. And the E shield looks pretty nice, but has a rather odd sound cue. The ult is just brilliant here – and the backing animation is like an entire little skit. So there’s a lot to like from these animations too. When it comes to actual design, the skin is rather well-made. But I honestly want a skin that’s a bit more creative. I feel like there are a million Pool Party skins at this point. And they all mostly boil down to skimpiness, water, and sand.
4. Sugar Rush Braum
Released: December 17th, 2019 Price: 1350 RP Now this is what I call creativity! Not only does Braum look like the most fabulous candy general to ever claim the title of Muffin Man, but he literally goes into battle with a giant cookie. I can’t even express how much that shield makes me happy. Just the thought of deflecting literal bullets and energy blasts with a glorified ice-cream sandwich gets me chuckling. So this skin landed quite a few brownie points solely for the concept. When it comes to animations, it’s pretty straightforward here: with candies and sweets being the main attraction alongside some hearts for your W, which is also pretty sweet given the context. The only fault I have with this skin is that it’s just so extra, and it wears me out over time. You can only go for joke skins so often before they kinda lose the funny.
3. Dragonslayer Braum
Released: May 11th, 2014 Price: 975 RP Man, this has to be one of the best release skins that Riot has come out with. The design is pretty simple too, as it just flips the base theme from ice to fire – and yet it works so well. Braum’s new armor makes him look even tankier than before. And his shield is an absolute beauty. Since it’s a rather detailed dragon head, having all the abilities be fire-related seems completely natural. And it even makes the Q seem a bit more powerful than in his other skins. And here’s something else new: I don’t usually bring up chromas when talking about League skins, but Dragonslayer is an absolute beast in that regard. It comes with chromas like Obsidian, LEC, and Fan Pass that are absolute bangers. There’s no doubt in my mind that this’s the best budget skin for Braum. But I can’t call it the best-of-the-best, as his theme can go even further.
2. Santa Braum
Released: December 14th, 2016 Price: 1350 RP Well I ho, ho, ho-pe you brought your credit card, because Santa Braum is here to play – and he has an entire fireplace by his side. I do not know why Riot decided that just being Santa wasn’t enough, and instead took the Halloween route and made Braum a Sexy Santa… but I won’t complain either. Even though this skin is rather goofy in conception (especially with its backing animation), the skin fits in rather nicely on the Rift – largely thanks to the good character model. The animations are about what you would expect here, with all kinds of presents flying out from his Q, some gift wrap on his E, and a pretty chilly animation for his ult. I know there are a lot of Braum mains who flock to this skin as their #1 pick because of its pretty concept and solid execution. But personally I think if you’re going for the gold, it should be a skin that can work all year ‘round.
1. Crime City Braum
Released: August 23rd, 2018 Price: 1350 RP I just love everything about Crime City Braum. The character model is clean as hell, and makes Braum look like a cartoon villain. And the fact that he just carries around the door of a safe he wants cracked just amuses me to no end. Plus, a safe door actually makes sense for a tank, unlike a fireplace! In this skin his Q fires out a bag of money, his passive is a diamond, and his shield is literal gold bars. Everything is money-related. And everything makes some sense if you think about it. But more than anything, I just really love the character model and the idea behind the skin. I mean, it even has a Despicable Me-type backing animation! Who can hate that? The chromas are also pretty nice with this one, and the splash art is a banger. Crime City Braum is just goofy enough to fit Braum’s overall goofy personality, but it’s also serious enough to be used as a main skin for Braum players.
